Bobcats first half paces them past Black Knights
CHENANGO FORKS – The Lady Trojans of Greene quickly shook off a rusty start in the first quarter to take the game back eight minutes later before finishing out on top, defeating non-conference opponent Chenango Forks 41-34 Tuesday night.
The Lady Blue Devils of Chenango Forks jumped out to an early 14-4 lead after Bree Fargnoli started off the game with a hot hand, hitting four 3-pointers in the first quarter.
Greene received their points from Emma Smith shooting performance at the foul line but that was all the points they put up on the scoreboard.
“We weren’t able to get in the gym since last Friday and it showed early,” said Trojans’ head coach Dave Gorton. “We went 0-for-11 from the field and turned it over several times.”
However, in the second stanza, the Greene team looked like a brand new squad as they went 9-for-13 from the floor to score 18 points in the eight minutes of play. With the sharing of the ball between the team, seven different Trojans scored in the 18-7 run while eight buckets were assisted on.
“It was a good quarter,” Gorton said. “We need to be more consistent with our passing to help us get going offensively.”
